GUINEAN GIRLS & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE (GGWELC)
Education, Violence against Women, Entrepreneurship, participation in leadership and decision making process, healthcare needs are among the various topics discussed for the passed 7 years at our various conferences. Promoting the education and empowerment of girls and women remains the largest component of the Guinean Women Development Foundation Programs. Women represent 52% of the Guinean population, but yet they suffer from illiteracy and live confined to domestic tasks and routine and ancestral traditions, which condemn the ignorance and diminish their potential and their opportunities for participation in the decision makings of the nation. Schooling for girls in Guinea will address some long-term challenges such as the fight against all forms of farm women and better equip them to deal with the socio-cultural and economic constraints that hinder their active participation in development progress. Scholarship Distribution, the allocation of scholarships to girls in Guinea and in the Guinean communities in the U.S will help empower them to meet the challenges they face in their studies. Through GGWELC, we will promote excellence, empower women and girls in our educational seminars and conferences organized both in Guinea and in the U.S
